Ian Greenwood, former Mayor of Ipswich, died in April at the early age of 63. Ian, a life long Labour man and Ipswich town supporter, suffered a heart attack whilst listening to Ipswich town play Bristol in the championship. First elected in the county borough council in 1972, he served as a county and district councillor until 2006.
In 1994, during Ian’s Mayoral year, the Mayoral car was converted to run on natural gas, part of the “go green” initiative. Active in all sections of the local labour movement, Ian will be greatly missed.
