This is so rubbish but you know what? I don't care. And now I've got lots of time to learn how to video edit properly.
If big Dave is going to video blog twice a week then there has to be a Labour alternative. This one won't make Halliwell's film guide but give me until Christmas to learn the ropes and I'll be waving at you from the limo at the oscars.

Posted in: Vidcast Fever!
Excerpt: Tom's done made himself a vidcast! I can't say that I agree with all of it (particularly the bit about politics "getting more decent the more local it gets"... *cough*), but at least he has a video... and that means...

If you've got time to kill, do you fancy looking into this travesty of public spending (see also this, as the aforementioned blog appears to be having a little bit of trouble in serving me its excellent summary of the situation)?
If you do some digging and manage to get anywhere, a few thousand web developers across the nation who actually care about their jobs will salute you :)
(P.S. I didn't half double-take the the other week when I heard your name read out in connection to that letter, if I'd had to predict who would have signed it, I can't say you would've been near the top of my list!)

Well that's 10 times better than Cameron's effort!
I think you are right Tom; we do need a new approach to doing politics in Britain. It's the kind of thing we've been discussing in the Young Fabian Society for the last 5 years or so - young people in particular, but also all voters are turned off by the "yah boo sucks" way that's been our political system for decades! People want to feel that politics matters to them and they can influence things.
Let's keep these sort of ideas up!

I feel naughty for finding the Phillipino(sp?) maid comment so amusing. Spot on at the end, too. Meh, its late, too late to comment further.

Well done Tom, not for your dirty team beating mine on saturday, but for your great initiative at communicating with people, hope it goes well, and with lots of time on your hands, you should be a dab hand within a week or so!!!

Fantastic. Rubber gloves and political comment in one video. Definitly on a par with http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-4413436602865581331&q=amarillo+in+locked from the office of another well known 'plotter'

i think pink gloves would have looked better ha ha i like it very much you seem closer to the public this way, to the people who havent met you before, its a great opportunity for them to get more of an insite into the man they see in the paper and on election posters keep going .

If you stop billboard advertising you will restore democracy. Satchi & Satchi gave us thatcher in 1979, with britain isn't working. It is now.

You know, I could never understand why political organisations have been left without charity status... surely they are all about helping their community, in a subjective sense?
Nice one tom, good to see more labour on the web.

Tom, I liked the video, keep practicing and let us have more. Re funding of political parties: I agree with most of what you say. Party supporters keep democracy alive. I can't think of a better social arrangement. Who should pay? Well not big business, even if limited to Cameron's £50,000. There are more big business supporters who can afford £50,000.
Any way, I'm glad you're seriously back to blogging. Linda Halliwell (no relation to the film guide)
