Play Station addiction

If this story about a boy being diagnosed with Play Station addiction is true, it reveals a lot about my own youth but also leaves me wondering whether we should purchase this beauty for Christmas. What do you think? Is a three and half year old too young to play with this stuff?

This BBC article largely debunks the gaming addiction myth – http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7746471.stm .
Assuming you’re a great parent (and you clearly are) there’s nothing to worry about (and at least games are interactive unlike TV)

They’re never too young to learn about the importance of giving at Christmas, Tom. In this spirit I’m buying my dad the Hollyoaks Hunks calendar and my grandmother the Age of Empires III expansion pack.

Jingle bells!

Wii’s are great for little kids, my two year old loves it. However I’m not so sure about Super Mario Galaxy, it has lots of instructions requiring the player to understand various game concepts which I know proves difficult to explain to a young one that just wants to wave the controls around and make things move.

Wii Sports on the other hand is great for the younger player, especially bowling however don’t forget to use the safety strap at all times.

There are some good deals on game bundles around at the moment, pays to hunt them out. Not necessarily online either.
