A week is a long time

i was desperate to get to an internet connection over the weekend but got diverted by other stuff. So I couldn’t say how pleased I was to be asked to stay at the Cabinet Office. I’m going to focus the activities of my team on how we can genuinely start to digitally engage. Hope you’ll stick with me and keep the ideas and advice coming in.

Tom, Pleased to see you’re still in the mix as impressed by your knowledge and enthusiasm for emerging technology and intrigued by your tweet about new ideas for it. We’re committed and contributors to the tech ecosystem (for example check out http://www.bootlaw.com) and if we can do something to promote emerging technology count us in. BTW thanks for the intro in New York on Digital Mission. Will you repeat it for SXSW?

[...] Tom Watson MP is still the ‘e’ guy here in the yookay 8 10 2008 I have had many texts, tweets (ew) and emails asking me whether Tom Watson was still the Digital Minister here in our fair land. He is… and here is his blog post about it http://www.tom-watson.co.uk/2008/10/a-week-is-a-long-time/ [...]

What does this mean Tom? Does it mean Government will ignore those non digital people? Does it mean the PM’s personalisation message is dead? If you are focussing your team (is this the whole of the Cabinet Office?) on digital, what will they stop doing? What does your boss Liam, want you/CO to focus on? trying to understand the “enforcer” requirement and if this has a higher priority than digital.

Never quite sure how your passion for digital Tom, works with other departments. Can you/ do you tell health, crime, traffic, etc to focus on digital? How does this work. Help us help you by giving us more details of how all this works

Did they not want you at Number 10 with Liam? Wonder why not…
