Le Twitter and the political class

Le twitter

Le twitter

Simon has a lovely piece on Twitter making it to France.

One academic declares the platform as equivalent to pirate radio or community TV, missing the point that the barriers to entry in the pirate radio market are considerably higher than registering for a Twitter feed.

Dominique Wolton ends his piece with the prediction that:

“In less than 5 years, the current infatuation with new, interactive modes of communication will calm down. Politicians will make more selective use of the internet. They will realise that their credibility doesn’t depend on their use of these technologies, but on their ability to act, and their conviction.”

See you in 2013 Dominique!

What’s important is that MPs become more creative in how they communicate with the public. What’s really interesting is that this is becoming less of a one-way and more two-way conversation. Gone are the days when leaflet and a surgery was enough!

Sure is Vincenzo. This blog has helped me form Government policy. I’m sure that’s why we’re doing so well in the polls right now :-) (that’s a joke by the way)
