Labour Party MPs online

For some years now and without great success, I have been maintaining an up to date list of web sites and blogs for Parliamentary Labour Party MPs. It’s a thankless task and frankly, there are other places that do it more efficiently. But a small number of colleagues use the links. I feel quite attached to the list as it’s been on the site since it was set up in 2003 (along with the teens section which should probably go – a gag cannot last forever).

Can you think of a better way of keeping the list though? Is there a wiki package that would make it easier to maintain?

They work for you has each MPs site on their resepective biography:

I’m sure they could easily code a page showing all MPs, by party, with links.

Define easier. If you’re looking for a package so that others can add/edit/delete then media wiki would do, I guess.

If you want the ability to control the content but allow others to suggest new links, then a directory package like http://www.freephpdirectoryscript.com/ would do it. I think that it’ll also allow you to ping URLs to check they’re still valid).

Mediawiki, the software that powers Wikipedia, is really easy to install and would be the easiest way to do this.

The French Parti Socialiste already has something similar.

Happy to help out with the installation…

If they had RSS on their sites you could do something slightly more visual using pageflakes or friendfeed. First five or so don’t. Other thing you could try would be to see if Dods will allow their listing to be available via rss… might be worth a shot.

Having said the above I think Andy probably has the solution for you – I’d be surprised if you couldn’t get the team at they work for you to pull something together.

You might want to delete John MacDougall from your list.
