My friend Oli points me to a site in the States that allows donors to choose a school fundraising project to support; see donorschoose. If you can put away your instincts that the state should fund everything a school does, wouldn’t this be a great idea for small fundraising initiatives in the UK.

Very interesting. I’m (hopefully) about to become a school governor, and am currently getting my head in the game. Is there any legislation that would prevent something like this in the UK? (sorry, I’m only taking my first few tentative steps on the governor journey…)
