Sir Peter Gershon was on R4 Today this morning, so I Googled him and turned up his presentation to the May 2006 Welsh Audit Office Conference. By comparison with the entirely reasonable expectations of govt efficiency and use of our money (which I read into your recent speech, Tom), his proposition is pathetic, because he says nothing about the need for a step change in the competence of large parts of the public sector to match today’s policy and legal standards and to perform in the information society. This morning he said that it will take 10 years to do even what he advocates…
