Jon Cruddas – New Statesman

Not sure where Jon is going with this stuff but it’s worth a read.

Dear Tom

For that matter, some of us are not sure where Gordon’s going either with a recent spate of announcements. Trouble is we haven’t even had the consolation of them being a good read.

Moreover, the senior officers of the Labour Party must become independent of the parliamentary leadership, starting with the appointment of a new general secretary with real operating autonomy. We should also demand the separation of the deputy leadership from a properly elected party chair.

I think where Jon is coming from is quite obvious and the sooner he is elected into one of the two positions the better. Mind, you could always ask him…

I couldn’t find a word to disagree with
in this article. What is Cruddas saying here
that he didn’t say in his campaign when you
supported him? He was right then and he remains
right now.

The Party is in serious trouble and I don’t
think many people outside the small circle of
Brown “advisers” believe he is able to get
us out of it.
