Jetsetting Tories: “Oops I did it again”

When David Davis, Patrick McLoughlin, Andrew Mitchell and David Cameron read the Guardian on Saturday November 3rd they must have winced with embarassment. We didn’t know that weeks before they had taken another all expenses paid trip on Lord Ashcroft’s private plane, this time to Paris where they were also provided with rugby world cup final tickets. Here’s the story that claims that last minute tickets were changing hands at four grand a throw.

Whilst we didn’t know this last weekend, through the diligence of Sadie, we know now.

That mighty social commentator (if not a grammerian) has pronounced that “the reputation of politics in general suffers even further” because it’s “quite clear to me that the rules governing this allowance are rather opaque”.

In other words, Dale is happy to see Plaid Cymru slapped over the wrist for allowances, but he sees no reason to bother his readership over MP’s expenses.
