Iain Dale

The central office stooge is at it again. Iain Dale posted on his blog earlier today that a Southall Councillor Mrs Noori has defected to the Tories. There’s a small problem with this though. She hasn’t resigned.

Councillor Noori is not happy about Iain Dale’s slur. Lawyers are being consulted. Here’s the statement she has just asked to be issued on her behalf:

“I joined the Labour Party to serve my community. That remains the case….. I have not resigned my membership and will not be joining the Conservatives.

“Tomorrow I will be leading campaigning for Labour’s victory on July 19th. I hope to see you on the campaign trail too!

Oh Iain. Councillor Noori is a member of the National Union of Journalists and knows her rights. Will we finally get an apology out of you?

This is getting odder and odder…

[...] Apparently Ian Dale was a bit previous about Cllr Noori. According to Tom Watson, MP, Labour’s parlimentary lead on this campaign, she has said: I joined the Labour Party to serve my community. That remains the case….. I have not resigned my membership and will not be joining the Conservatives. [...]

[...] Can someone sort this out for me. Earlier today, Pravdale was claiming that the Tories had claimed another Labour scalp in Ealing, but Comical Tommy is claiming this is balls. Yet Pravdale still hasn’t issued a correction – which in fairness to him he usually does do relatively promptly. [...]

far be it for me to waste time over a spat between the two wings of the Rupert Murdoch fan club but, Dale claims he has an agreed statement that was embargoed until this morning. Are you aware of such a statement and will you either publish it yourself or encourage Mr Dale to do so?

I wonder, Tom, if you could explain how all of these shenanegans between you, Iain and a few others helps the country? I am not trying to pick a fight, I just don’t see the point in all this party political fighting – its only result will be for people to be even more turned off politics.

Unity has spotted the source. That was the ever so reliable Gurcharan Singh who outed his co-conspirators in a supposed joint statement. Have all the others been successfully turned? Or was this Nu Tory fantasist who is apparently supporting Mr Tony “Anathema to all my principles” Lit flying a kite on behalf of the Southall five? Has the other woman defector for example stood up and been counted? or is she away on her annual leave of some such?

Still nothing on boring Nigel?

Did Cllr Noori at any stage agree to leave the Labour party, yes or no?

Dear Mr Clark

Re: False Allegations of resignation

Once again, I am compelled to write to you about false allegations being made about my membership of the Labour Party. Yesterday, in an agreed statement, I said that I joined the Labour Party to serve my community. This remains the case today and will remain the case in the future.

To be absolutely and categorically clear: I have no intention of resigning my membership of the Labour Party. I will not be joining the Conservative Party.

As you know, I was a council colleague of Councillor Gurcharan Singh. A number of members who supported Gurcharan signed blank pieces of paper in advance of the shortlisting interview last week.

I was assured that this would be for a write-in campaign should Gurcharan fail in his interview.

At no point did I give permission for the blank paper to be used as a resignation note. Any suggestion that is the case is a completely false and outrageous misuse of my signature and I am deeply distressed that this has happened.

I hope that this now closes the matter. We have a by-election to win and that’s what I want to focus on.

Yours sincerely,
Cllr Zahida Abbas Noori

William Hill now have Labour 4/5 (were 4/7), Tories 2/1 (were 9/4) and Lib Dems 3/1 (were 9/2).

Plenty of money going on the Tories, then…be careful…

My earlier comments seem to have fallen off.

I was just wondering, what kind of person signs a blank piece of paper?

Also, did Cllr Noori at any stage agree to leave the Labour party, yes or no?
