You may find this report on individual police force’s policy towards body armour for PCSO’s that I have prepared for the Home Office of interest.

Anything you can do to better protect west mids PCSO’s is appreciated.

I have noticed that the British police wear their stab proof vest on the outside of their shirts. The vest is normally black and the shirt white.
It seems fairly easy for an attacker to hit the police officer on an unprotected part of the body.
On the American televison progammes of real police the officers seem to wear their bullet proof or stab proof vest under a shirt.
This would seem to me to be less vulnerable to attack i.e. it is harder to see the parts of the torso that are unprotected.

Keep up the good work in trying to get all Police Forces in England and Wales to provide their PCSOs with stab vests.

Maybe the HSE should look into the Police forces that do not provide their PCSOs with stab vests.

I work for West Mids Police and I’m disgusted that STILL PCSO’s haven’t been issued with stab vest, I’ve been deployed to self harm situations – I didn’t know the circumstances, I could of got stabbed?! It is a sad state of affairs, something needs to be done.

West Mids Police is the 2nd biggest force the country and WE ARE one of TWO OR THREE forces that DO NOT have stab vest! It speaks for itself.

TOM WATSON, MP, Please can you help get the ball rolling?
