Endemol plunges to a new low

Complaints against Channel Four may be going through the roof but what do you expect when they rely on post-ironic television produced by Endemol. I genuinely thought that news of a programme where three dialysis patients slug it out to be the recipients of a terminally ill woman’s kidney was a joke.

It isn’t and it’s sick.

Surely, this is the time that UK TV should ditch these people?

The one tiny, tiny, positive that can come from this is it might draw attention to the desperate shortage of organ donors. There should be absolutely no need for anyone to sell bits of themselves like this. So many healthy people die as a result of tragic accidents but their organs are just wasted because no record was made of their willingness to be used.

It’s definitely not a spoof?

Surely it’s time that we actually solved the problem of the lack of kidneys for transplant?

Wouldn’t that be better than outrage over a TV show?

BTW, there is one country that has no shortage of kidneys.

You can find out for yourself which it is but I’ll give you a hint as to why:

Markets work.

If it leads to an increase in donor registration, then I for one can deal with the fact that it’s obscene.
