Makka Pakka required

My son has become addicted to “In the night garden“, a psychedelic kids programme on CBeebies. This is one of the weirdest, mesmerising pieces of kids TV since the Teletubbies.99% of blog readers will not have seen the programme. Those that have though – don’t you think that every busy household should have their own Makka Pakka? I think I’m going to run a book on who will be the first MP to mention Iggle Piggle in the House of Commons. It’s usually Steve Pound with these things but Ed Vaizey might get in their first.

I’ve seen it – Jed likes it and his mum (who gets to watch it on week days where as I only see it at weekends) keeps singing some song about Iggle Piggle – I find it deeply disturbing!

Heh – Thought this looked fun but didn’t get to see it unfortunately as my toddler managed to get bored by the rather lengthy opening credits & crawled off the sofa to go play trains instead. Will tell him it has Malachy’s (and your) endorsement & see if can convince him to give it another go.

It’s weirder that Telietubbies. I didn’t think that was possible.

My otherwise incredibly intelligent three-year-old thinks it’s great.

My two year old daughter loves it! She cries at the beginning because she thinks it is ending and then cries at the end because it has ended!! I need to find somewhere now that sells Iggle Piggles!

My two year old son and niece both love it and I am desperate to find some merchandise anyone come across anything ??

Saw this when in France as the TV would only pick up CBEEBIES – I thought it was hillarious! Move over telitubbies this is much stranger!

Makka Pakka is clearly the best character – No news on the merchandise front, give it a chance to grip the nation and then I’m sure they’ll be all over the shelves by christmas!

On a side note….does anyone think that when Makka Pakka says “Makka Pakka!” It could be misheard to hear something quite rude (think of any rap songs if you’re a little confused)!!

My 2 year old loves Makka Pakka. She also used to cry at the beginning when Iggle Piggles floats away from the night sea into the sky, etc

My husband commented that the character Iggle Piggle falls down backwards a lot and our daughter copies him. I guess a lot of small chirdren might and so hurt themselves.

I will most likely also be buying some of the characters when they become available in shops as I’m sure they will bring a smile to my daughters face.

my son loves in the night garden. he’s 22 months but hasn’t quite grasped how to say ‘makka pakka’, instead it comes out as ‘paki’ which he shouts at the top of his voice!

i live in bradford, i’m scared to take him out!!!

[...] And it seems we are not the only ones either.  Clearly I am going to have to get my sewing machine out and make my own Makka Pakka and Iggle Piggle.  I think he’d like a few Tombliboos too.  A set of Pontipines could be tricky though, as I don’t know how to whittle wood.  And there’s ten of them.  I’m going to start with Iggle Piggle, because he looks the easiest.  Can anyone tell me how big he ought to be?
