You could explain that they’re a lot like puppets, especially if the youngster has any puppet amongst his toys – if not, a simple sock pupet demonstration would help illustrate the point.

It was the ‘real’ Tweenies I was thinking about. So each Tweenie has a Twinie? How do I explain that to a child under three?

The Tweenies on that page are animated using Flash.

If you simply want to do a simple animation using a animated GIF is normally the easy way.

If how ever your asking how the Tweenies blink on the show they are played and voiced by different people. The actors that provide the voices also operate the animatronic parts of their heads.
